Aimed as an introduction to power boating with no previous experience required, this 2 day course is spent mostly on the water in "Bluebird" our 5.3m rib powerboat. Your RYA instructor will teach you how to check over the boat before setting out, control her within the confines of the marina, understand how tides and conditions effect the boat, also to safely handle her at speed.

Next comes anchoring, man over board recovery and collision avoidance. Short classroom sessions will teach you buoyage, passage planning and chartwork. By the end of the 2 day course will be able to take a boat on a day passage in familiar water.

Solent RYA Powerboat Level 2 Training Course Summary

This two day course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence. It includes close quarters handling, high speed manoeuvres, man overboard recovery and collision regulations. The course can be taken inland or on the coast and your certificate will be endorsed accordingly.
